Tsadari Wins In Singles As Falcons Fall To RedHawks

HAMILTON, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons tennis team dropped their Friday (March 25) match to Miami (OH), falling to the RedHawks, 6-1. Ioanna Tsadari gave the Falcons their lone point of the day, winning in the No. 1 singles spot. The loss drops BGSU to 4-9 overall and 1-1 in the MAC.

Miami opened the day by taking the doubles point, winning in the first and third spots. In the No. 1 match, Laura Maia Silveira and Ioanna Tsadari trailed, 4-1. They earned wins in the next two games to come within one, but the RedHawks duo won the final two games to take the set. The No. 3 match was similar, as Maru Poppe and Annika Vetter faced a potential final game, trailing 5-2. The partners rebounded with two consecutive game wins before dropping the final one to Miami.

The No. 2 doubles match was ended prior to completion, with Selina Karg and Hannah Neuman leading at the time of conclusion. The duo dropped the opening game, then responded with wins in four straight games. The RedHawks won three of the next four, giving Karg and Neuman a 5-4 lead when the set was called.

In singles, Tsadari earned a win in her first set at No. 1. Trailing by a game, she won three in a row to claim a 7-5 victory. The second set followed the same trend, as the junior fell behind, 3-4, before ending with three consecutive wins to give the Falcons a point.

Tsadari's singles win gives her a 2-0 record in MAC play this season. She is 26-26 in singles in her career, including a 12-11 mark this year.
