Falcons Ready to Open MAC Play at Home

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team is set to open their home season this Saturday. The Falcons will take on the MAC counterpart Ohio starting at 1 p.m.
AT THE MEETS
Saturday brings the annual pink meet for the Falcons. The first 150 students in attendance will receive a free T-Shirt.
FEATURED FALCONS
The Orange and Brown took home their first win of the season on the road at Cleveland State. As a team the Falcons came away with 8 event wins. The Falcons were led by the divers, sweeping the podium in both events, thanks to the efforts of Natalia Mayorga, Evie Long, and Rayah Blood. Mayorga captured the top spot in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving with scores of 258.45 and 273.30 respectively.
The swimmers opened the dual meet with six wins. Emily McNicol led the team with two events wins. McNicol swam to the top spot in the 100 and 200 Backstroke with times of 56.35 and 2:05.14. Senior swimmer Riley McNichols also left a mark winning the 100 Butterfly with a time of 57.72. McNichols also added a second-place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 24.21.
Ava Vial showed out against the Vikings with an event win and a second-place finish. Vial won the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.45 and helping the Falcons sweep the top three spots. Vial earlier had finished second in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:24.58.
For the second straight weekend Joanna Robertson won the 100 Breaststroke. Robertson's earlier victory had been at Akron's Zips Classic. Against Cleveland State Robertson won with a time of 1:05.55.
