Falcons Score Five To Beat Lakers On Friday

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Bowling Green Falcons (3-8-0, 1-2-0 CCHA) notched their first CCHA victory of the season in a Friday night showdown, with a 5-3 score over the Lake Superior State Lakers (5-6-0, 2-3-0 CCHA). The Falcons had 12 different players that tallied a point, with four of them being goal scorers. A competitive night up north, the Falcons and Lakers totaled seven penalties in just the first period and ended the first and second period tied. That was until Brett Pfoh scored the game-winning goal in the third period, to secure the first conference win on the year.

Scoring Plays
- Ryan O'Hara started the scoring at 7:18 in the first period. Josh Nodler sent the puck across the ice to O'Hara between the face-off circles and past the goaltender.
- Dawson Tritt tied up the game at .34 in the first period. Tritt had a pass from behind the goal and was off-center in front, received the puck and hit it past Moore
- Gustav Stjernberg had a clear path to the net at 14:19 in the second period and slap shot the puck at the point, past the Lakers goaltender.
- Josh Nodler scored the Falcons third goal of the night at 12:06 in the second period. Nodler shot from the blue line and went top right corner, McKinley with the first assist.
- Jared Westcott scored not soon after at 10:51 in the second period. Westcott found the puck off of a face-off in the left circle and slap shot the puck past Moore.
- Tim Bakos scored at 2:56 in the second period, where he received a pass in front of the Falcons goal and hit it past Moore.
- Brett Pfoh found an open path into Lakers territory at 6:21 in the third period and scored the game-winning goal.
- Ryan O'Hara hit the puck from behind the far-end blue line into an empty net goal to secure the 5-3 win over the Lakers at 1:55 in the third period. Â
Falcon Facts
- Ryan O'Hara scored two goals on the night, being his third multi point game of the year. O'Hara tallies seven goals on the season and ten points, leading the Falcons.
- Gustav Stjernberg recorded his third goal on the year and is now tied at second in Falcon goal production with Brody Waters and Spencer Kersten.
- Quinn Emerson, Jack Blake, and Ethan Scardina all tallied their first assist of the season.
- Brett Pfoh recorded his first goal of the season and third career goal.
- Josh Nodler had a two-point game (1G,1A), being the third Falcon of the season that has recorded two points in a game.
- The Falcons recorded a team high of five goals and nine assists.
