Falcons Set Sight for Saturday's Battle of I-75

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team is set to mark the next entry in the Battle of I-75 this Saturday at Toledo. The dual meet will begin at 11 a.m.
FEATURED FALCONS
The Falcons are coming off of their annual pink meet. The Orange and Brown were led by a record setting performance by diver Natalia Mayorga. Mayorga won both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving with scores of 273.37 and 312.45. Mayorga's score of 312.45 on the 3-Meter boards is the highest recorded score by a Freshman since Talisa Lemke set the Falcon program record as a freshman.
The swimmers were led by Emily McNicol. McNicol was the lone Falcon swimmer with an event win with it coming in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 57.11. Riley McNichols added two top three finishes with a second-place finish in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 57.78 and a third-place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 24.24.
Elayna Krupp also had another strong performance. Krupp finished second in the 100 Free thanks to a time of 52.74 and fourth in the 50 Free with a time of 24.25 finishing only a millisecond behind fellow Falcon Riley McNichols. Ava Vial also showed out against Ohio finishing as the highest Falcon in the 200 Breaststroke and 200 Butterfly

The Falcons begin their first Battle of I-75 of the season this Saturday against the Rockets of Toledo. The Falcons fought in a tightly contested battle last season at Toledo falling by a score of 159.5 to 140.5.
The Rockets have started the 2023-24 season with the same record as the Falcons. Both Toledo and Bowling Green head into Saturday's dual meet with record of 1-1 and 0-1 in MAC play.
