December 12, 2023 | Volleyball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team landed four student-athletes on the 2023 Academic All-District® Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). The teams were announced Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 12). The Mid-American Conference had 32 honorees with Bowling Green tying Western Michigan for the most by a single team with four.
For the Falcons, Alex Laboy, Lindsey LaPinta, Alexis Mettille and Lauryn Hovey were all recognized with the honor. Hovey was also selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 9, 2024. The Falcons have now had at least one recipient in three consecutive seasons with this year's four marking a new program-high for a single season. Additionally, Mettille is the first Falcon to be named in consecutive seasons since Emily Manser was named in 2004 and 2005.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
