SENIOR DAY!
• Saturday, as mentioned, will be Senior Day at the Stroh, with four student-athletes recognized in ceremonies prior to tipoff. That quartet includes Elissa Brett, Allison Day, Kadie Hempfling and Payton Moore.
• The Senior Day festivities are scheduled to begin at 12:33 p.m. on the Stroh Center court.
A THREE-WAY TIE WITH THREE GAMES TO GO!
• The Falcons enter Saturday's action embroiled in a three-way tie for first place in the MAC, along with Ball State and Toledo.
• Each team has gone 1-1 in the head-to-head meetings so far this season. Ball State topped BGSU, 81-73, in Muncie in the MAC opener (Jan. 4), while Toledo defeated BSU 83-76, seven days later (Jan. 11). Then, the following Wednesday (Jan. 18), the Falcons downed UT, 88-76, at the Stroh.
• And, the final three days of the regular-season schedule see the teams complete the second round-robin phase of those head-to-head meetings. BSU hosts Toledo on Saturday (Feb. 25) before the Cardinals come to the Stroh on Wednesday (March 1). The final day of the regular season (March 4) sees BGSU head to Savage Arena.
ROAD WARRIORS
• The Falcons have broken the school record for road wins in a season. Following Wednesday's 80-72 victory at Central Michigan, BGSU is now 13-2 in true road games. The old record of 12 road victories was set by the 1986-87 team (12-2) and matched by the 2005-06 (12-1) and 2007-08 (12-4) clubs.
• This year's team had topped the road win total for all of 2021-22 before the calendar had flipped to 2023. Last year's team went 4-7 in true road games. And, the '22-23 club had more than doubled last year's total before the end of January.
NOW THAT'S A TURNAROUND!
• The Falcons went 19-42 overall and 5-31 in MAC play in head coach Robyn Fralick's first two seasons at the helm, as she and her staff were recruiting the bulk of the current team and implementing their culture and style of play.
• It's safe to say that Fralick and her staff were successful. Over the last two-plus years, the Falcons are 62-27 overall and 37-16 in league regular-season action.
WINNING THE TURNOVER BATTLE
• The Falcons have won the turnover battle more often than not – MUCH more often than not – this season. BGSU has committed fewer turnovers than the opponents in 25 of this season's 27 games.
• A few recent examples ... BG turned the ball over just nine times at Kent State (Feb. 11), forcing the Flashes into 19 turnovers. Then, BG was +9 in the turnover department vs. NIU (Feb. 15), +13 at Western Michigan (Feb. 18) and +16 at Central Michigan (Feb. 22).
• The Falcons have played 15 MAC games to date, and have forced the opposition into 20 or more turnovers in nine of those 15 games.
• In fact, over the last seven contests, BGSU has turned the ball over 89 times (12.7 per game), while the opponents have had 169 turnovers (24.1 per game).
• Entering the UB game, the Falcons are ranked second in the entire nation in turnover margin (+9.19), and BGSU is seventh in the country in turnovers forced per game (21.78) and eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.36).
• BGSU has forced the opposition into at least 15 turnovers in all 27 games, and the Falcons have had a single-digit turnover total nine times this season to date.
• And, BG has turned those opponent turnovers into buckets. Through 27 games, the Falcons have outscored the foes, 647-268, in points off turnovers (including a 31-6 lead in that category in the WMU game and a 28-8 lead at CMU).
PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF IT
• The Falcons' game vs. Ball State on Wednesday (March 1) has been selected by ESPN for a national broadcast. The game will air on ESPNU, with the start time moved to 5:00 p.m.
• The BSU game will be BGSU's first nationally-televised contest since the 2021 MAC Tournament championship game, which was aired by CBS Sports Network (March 13, 2021). It will be the Falcons' first regular-season game to be televised nationally in over 14 years, since a game at Western Michigan aired on ESPNU on Feb. 7, 2009.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE BULLS
• Buffalo is 9-15 on the season, and the Bulls are 4-11 in the MAC. UB is looking to snap a six-game losing streak, with the last four losses coming by an average of just 3.25 points per game. Most recently, the Bulls suffered a narrow 61-57 loss at Eastern Michigan on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 23).
• Individually, Re'Shawna Stone – the reigning MAC Player of the Week – is averaging 16.8 ppg and has hit a team-leading 36 three-point field goals, while Zakiyah Winfield and Jazmine Young have 14.6 and 13.7 ppg, respectively. Winfield is averaging a double-double, with 10.2 rpg this year to date.
• Head coach Becky Burke's club is 4-7 at home and 5-8 on the road this season. UB is 2-5 at home and 2-6 on the road in MAC games. Burke, in her first year at UB, inherited just one player (Young) from a 2021-22 team that went 25-9 overall and 16-4 in MAC regular-season play.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Buffalo, 28-21, in the all-time series, and BGSU captured this season's first matchup, with a narrow 64-61 win in Western New York (Jan. 25, 2023). Last season saw UB pick up an 82-66 win at the Stroh (Jan. 5, 2022) and an 81-62 victory at Alumni Arena (March 5, 2022). Prior to last month's meeting, BG's most recent win over the Bulls had come in the MAC Tournament's semifinal round in Cleveland two years ago (80-67; March 12, 2021).
• The Falcons are 12-9 at home, 14-12 on the road and 2-0 at neutral sites vs. Buffalo through the years.
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following Saturday's UB battle, the Falcons will end the regular season by facing each of the other two teams currently tied at the top of the MAC standings. BGSU will begin the month of March by hosting Ball State on Wednesday (March 1). That game will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Stroh, and will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will end the regular season by making the short trip north to face Toledo next Saturday (March 4) in the Glass City. That contest will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Savage Arena.
• BGSU then will prepare for the MAC Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, March 8, in Cleveland. The Falcons' quarterfinal-round opponent and tipoff time are TBA.

With @KadieHempfling's career soon coming to a close, the @BGSUwbb program will experience a void not only on the floor, but in the stands.
