Falcons Close Weekend in Knoxville With Terrific Third Day

Neal takes first and Anderson PRs in shot put, Richard third in triple jump
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Bowling Green Falcons concluded the Tennessee Invite on Saturday (April 8) with another impressive day, including Zaresha Neal's second event win of the weekend and four other top-five finishes. Neal won the shot put a day after winning the discus. Like the discus, BGSU had a fifth-place finish in the event, with Lane Anderson earning a PR. Brianna Richard logged a season-best to place third in the triple jump, while Jenna Lucas took fifth in her collegiate heptathlon debut. Bianca Staples tied for fourth in the high jump, her first time competing in the event outdoors. Destiny Fernandes continued her strong performances in the heptathlon with a sixth-place finish, while field athletes Sabrina Imes (triple jump) and Reagan Emberton (shot put) added ninth-place finishes in their events.

- Zaresha Neal's shot put mark of 53-6.25 (16.31m) is her best of the outdoor season and ranks 17th in school history. She won the event, her fourth event crown of the outdoor campaign. Neal holds seven of the top 20 shot put marks in BGSU history.
- Brianna Richard had season-best mark of 39-4.00 (11.99m) in the triple jump, which ranks 14th in school history. The senior now holds four of the top 14 marks in program history.
- Lane Anderson had a PR of 43-10.75 (13.38m) in the shot put, placing fifth.
- Destiny Fernandes competed in the long jump for the first time this outdoor season and notched a mark of 16-10.00 (5.13), her best since the 2021 MAC Outdoor Championships. She ran the 800 for the first time as well, placing eighth in 2:43.67.
- Fernandes had a final heptathlon score of 4,287, matching the second-best total of her career.
- Jenna Lucas made her outdoor collegiate debut in the long jump with a mark of 16-11.25 (5.16m), matching her second-best mark from the indoor season. She also debuted in the 800, finishing 10th at 2:45.19.
- Lucas completed her first collegiate heptathlon with a score of 4,397, placing her fifth. This is just one point shy of 10th in program history.
- Tianna Mulligan ran the 400 in 58.98, her fastest time of the season and second-best of her outdoor career.
- Darian Braddix also raced the 400, making her outdoor season debut with a time of 1:00.11.
- Morgan Patterson ran the 100 hurdles for the first time in her collegiate career, taking 15th with a wind-aided time of 15.18.
- Alexis Parchman ran a season-best 12.61 in the 100, her second season-best time of the weekend (25.53 in the 200).
- Bianca Staples also had a season-best in the 100, placing 16th at 12.56.
- Staples made her outdoor collegiate debut in the high jump, tying for fourth and clearing 5-1.00 (1.55m).
