September 13, 2023 | Gymnastics
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University gymnastics coach Kerrie Turner has named Austyn Fobes to her staff as an assistant coach. Fobes comes to Bowling Green after most recently working with Premier Gymnastics in Morganville, N.J., since 2015.
"I am delighted to welcome Austyn to our program," said Turner. "Austyn was a standout gymnast at the elite level and later a student-athlete at the University of New Hampshire. She has dedicated her most recent years to developing young gymnasts into excellent competitors, and her background in choreography will be incredibly valuable to our program. I am excited for Austyn to make a daily positive impact on the experience of our student-athletes at BGSU."
"I'm extremely grateful and excited to be a part of the Bowling Green State University coaching staff," said Fobes. "This sport has taught me so much through my years as a club and NCAA gymnast and I am so honored to be given the chance to give back to these incredible student-athletes. I can't wait to start this next chapter with such an amazing team and coaching staff."
At Premier Gymnastics Fobes coached level 6-10 as the floor routine choreographer and office administrator for USAG Girls. From 2016-17 Fobes was a volunteer assistant coach at Rutgers. She has also worked with 4–13-year-olds at Aerials Gymnastics (2014-15) and 8-16-year-olds with Rebound Gymnastics (2014).
Fobes first worked at the collegiate level at her alma mater, New Hampshire, in 2013-14 as an undergraduate volunteer coach. Fobes, a 2014 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, was a four-year starter in four events and was a four-year NCAA Regional participant. She was a two-time Katie Baldwin Expression Award winner.
Prior to college, Fobes was a U.S. Classic Qualifier in 2006, a member of the USA National Team in 2004 and an International Elite from 2003-06.
