Hovey, Otten Earn Weekly MAC Awards

Hovey Named Co-Offensive Player of the Week; Otten Named Setter of the Week
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Players of the Week Monday afternoon (Nov. 4). Of those named, Bowling Green's Lauryn Hovey received this week's Co-Offensive Player of the Week award while Amanda Otten was named the Setter of the Week. For Hovey, this is her ninth career MAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition and her first of the season. As for Otten, this is her third career MAC Setter of the Week honor and second of the season, being named earlier this year on Oct. 7.

Lauryn Hovey
Hovey was the offensive catalyst for the Falcons on their way to a 2-0 weekend. Hovey led the Falcons in kills in both matches, averaging 4.29 kills per set, while maintaining a .400 hitting percentage for the weekend. Hovey started with 18 kills in four sets on Friday while hitting .371 to go along with a pair of aces. She followed it up with 12 kills in three sets on Saturday with a .450 hitting percentage and three aces. Hovey came close to a double-double in both matches, finishing seven digs on Friday and eight on Saturday.
Amanda Otten
Otten set the BGSU attack to an impressive .303 hitting percentage against Miami over the week as the Falcons went 2-0. In total, Otten averaged 12.14 assists per set, tallying 45 in the four-set match Friday followed by 40 in the three-set match Saturday. During Friday's match, Otten filled the stat sheet, landing seven kills on 11 error-free attacks (.636) while registering seven digs, four block assists, and two aces in the match. As for Saturday, she logged another five digs, two blocks, two aces, and a kill for a complete effort in both matches.

BGSU will return home on Tuesday (Nov. 5) to host the rival Toledo Rockets in the second leg of the Battle of I-75 for a 6 p.m. first serve. With it being Election Day, fans can present their "I Voted" sticker for admission.
