Cardinals Sweep Saturday DH in Muncie

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University softball team dropped a pair of games on the road against Ball State University on Saturday (April 13). The Cardinals took the contests by scores of 7-1 and 10-0.
BGSU-BSU GAME ONE – HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Falcons got a first-inning walk from Aaralyn Nogay, who advanced as far as third base before the third out was recorded.
• Ball State scored four first-inning runs via two hits, including a McKayla Timmons homer, along with several walks and a Falcon error.
• In the second, Marti Henkel drew a leadoff walk, and after Cameron Kaufman reached on a fielder's choice, Taylor Behrendt singled to send Kaufman to second. Then, with two outs, Delaney Davis singled to score Kaufman.
• A Peyton Dolejs single in the third inning was followed by a walk to Reagan Williamson, but the Falcons could not cut into the lead. The bottom of the inning saw the Cards score three times, with Samantha Jo Mata's two-run homer the big hit in that frame.
• BGSU got a Dolejs single in the fifth, along with back-to-back base hits by Kaufman and Behrendt in the sixth, but the Cardinals got out of the inning unscathed each time.
• Ball State had a 10-6 advantage in the hits department. Dolejs and Behrendt each went 2-for-3 at the plate, with Dolejs adding a sac bunt.
• For the hosts, Jazmyne Armendariz was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, while Ashlee Lovett went 2-for-3. Francys King threw a complete game for the hosts.
BGSU-BSU GAME TWO – HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Cardinals again got off to a quick start, scoring five times in the first inning and four more times in the third. Timmons homered in the opening frame for the second-straight game, and the hosts had five hits in each of those two innings.
• For the Falcons, Nogay walked in the first inning, with Dolejs following with a double, but the Cards kept BG off the board.
• Behrendt walked in the second, with Nogay drawing her second walk of the game in the third. Nogay got as far as third base in the latter inning.
• Lovett was 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs and two RBI, with three of her teammates picking up two hits apiece.Â

• The Falcons and Cardinals will conclude their weekend series with a single game on Sunday (April 14). first pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
