Lamparty Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

Bowling Green State University women's soccer standout Gabby Lamparty been named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 28).
Lamparty earns the honor for the first time in her BGSU career.

Lamparty, a native of Canfield, Ohio (South Range), played all 180 minutes as the Falcons allowed just one goal last week, and the junior defender also scored a goal at the other end of the pitch. Lamparty and her teammates went on the road and held second-place Buffalo scoreless in a Thursday-night (Oct. 23) draw.
Then, on Sunday, Lamparty helped the Falcons limit Akron to just one shot on goal, and she got forward to score the game-tying goal with just 25 seconds left in the match, a 1-1 tie.
On the season, Lamparty has played 1,599 minutes to lead all BGSU non-goalkeepers, and she has helped the Falcons keep seven clean sheets. Lamparty is second on the team with nine points, including three goals.
The Falcons are 8-2-8 overall, and BGSU is 3-1-7 in MAC play entering the final day of the regular season. BGSU faces Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 29), with a MAC Tournament berth on the line for the Orange and Brown. The midweek matchup with UMass begins at 1:00 p.m. at Rudd Field.
