Key Storylines
Building momentum:
The 2024-25 season was one of the best in recent years for the Falcons, as they earned six top five finishes in stroke play tournaments. Most notably the Falcons finished first at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, second at the A-Ga-Ming, and second at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, earning them a postseason invitational to the National Golf Invitational. Coming into the 2025 fall season, the Falcons will look to build on their impressive 2024-25 season, ultimately building towards a return to the MAC Championships in the spring of 2026.
A Busy Summer:
Despite the team being apart over the summer months, a handful of BGSU golfers have played in and won individual summer tournaments in their respective localities. Macie Elzinga, a sophomore from Byron Center, Mich., was victorious at the Michigan Women's Amateur Championship, earning her a berth in the US Women's Amateur Championship, played just a few weeks ago. Addison Kartusch, another sophomore, was victorious at the Manitoba Junior Girls Championship. Clare Yeazell took first in the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association 2025 Metropolitan Women's Amateur Championship, and Ava O'Sullivan won the Women's Golf Association of Pennsylvania Mary Thayer Farnum Cup for the second year in a row.
Fresh Faces:
While the 2025-26 roster features lots of familiar faces, over the summer the program welcomed three incoming freshmen, Audrey McIntyre, Copelin O'Krangley and Shelby Hardwick. Each of the program's newcomers will be golfing for the "B" team at the A-Ga-Ming this weekend. Along with new golfers, the program also welcomed a new assistant coach, Tyler Nickol, whose significant NCAA playing experience and recent coaching experience serves as a great resource for each member of the program.
The Lineup:
Golfers for this weekend's tournament are Addison Kartusch, Sammie Dolce, Ava O'Sullivan, Clare Yeazell and Macie Elzinga. McKenzie Miller, along with newcomers Shelby Hardwick, Copelin O'Krangley, and Audrey McIntyre will compete for the Falcons "B" team.
