Staley Won Three State Titles With Ridge View High School
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program and head coach Todd Simon announced the signing of incoming freshman guard Talan Staley. A 6-foot-3 guard from Blythewood, S.C., Staley was part of three-straight State Championship teams with Ridge View High School.
During his four years with Ridge View, Staley aided the Blazers to a combined record of 94-26, including a 78-12 over the last three seasons. During the stretch, Staley and the Blazers won three consecutive state titles as well as the Chick-Fil-A Classic Championship in 2023 and the Arby's Classic Championships in 2025. As for the individual level, Staley achieved a 1,000-point career during his high school tenure.
A four-year honor student, Staley was named captain during his senior season. He went on to be named Region 5 5A All-Region, SBCA Top 5 Senior and a North Carolina-South Carolina Carolina Classic All Star. This came following a season where he averaged 14.1 points, 61 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. On top of the averages, Staley shot 52-percent from the field and 39-percent from behind the arc.
"Talan is an extremely talented guard that impacts winning," said Simon. "He can make plays for others, read defenses and also create shots for himself. He has good size for the position and shoots it well. We are also excited for how he competes on the defensive end of the floor. Talan has a bright future ahead of him in the Orange and Brown."
