2009: Started 36 games in his 46 played…split time in both left (25 games) and right field (four games) and played three games at shortstop…also played five games at both positions…had an RBI in 19 games and scored a run in 28 games… was fifth on the team in batting average (.368), the highest for a freshman with 100 or more at-bats since Jeff Groth hit .370 in 1976…his five triples led the team, was fifth best in the MAC and tied for the second-best single-season all-time mark in school history…in his last 18 starts of the season, he hit safely in 16 of those games…had a 14 game hit streak (April 18 - May 12) where he hit 22-for-44 (.500), scored 20 runs and knocked in 21 runs in that span…registered seven multi-RBI games…hit a team-high five triples, four of which hit in conference games…collected 14 multi-hit games, including three hits against Northern Illinois (Mar. 27) and four versus Oakland (May 12)…hit .391 (18-for-46) with RISP, second-best on the team…hit a three-run home run against Ball State (April 12) to help with a 9-7 come-back win to sweep the Cardinals…recorded only one error (WMU, 3/22) in 47 chances…tied for the team lead in times hit by a pitch (10).
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 36th round selection of the Oakland A[apos]s in the 2008 draft...teammate of Steven Barrett in high school...was a four-year starter at shortstsop for coach Frank DiVito...was one of four finalists for Mr. Baseball as a senior...hit .467 his senior year setting school records for runs scored (66) hits (66), stolen bases (40-of-42) and triples (8)...helped the team to a 27-12 record his final season as Troy advanced to the state Div. I state semifinals...he was the shortstop on the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association[apos]s All-State Dream Team...hit. 400 his junior year as the team finished 26-5...was a first-team All-Oakland Athletic Association and all-district pick his last two seasons...played in the Michigan All-Star game at Comerica Park after his senior season.
