A 2009 graduate of Illinois State University, Kohn earned his masters degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
Â
With his degree in business administration, Kohn began working at BREHM Preparatory School as an athletic department intern/college advisor/recreation supervisor. He designed, planned and coordinated study hall, weekly checks on the initial and continued eligibility of student-athletes, and life skill plans for 30+ high school aged student-athletes who had been diagnosed with complex learning disabilities. Activities were designed to improve and engage in social interaction that would help them be successful in the transition to college as well as benefit them throughout life.
Â
Kohn then shifted to the Ohio University athletics department, where he served as an NCAA eligibility and student-athlete success intern. He was the secondary academic counselor overseeing the academic and degree progress of Ohio University football, women’s golf, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track, men’s and women’s cross country, and wrestling.
Â
He then began working in the Western Illinois University Athletics Academic Department as the assistant director of academic services and director of CHAMP life skills. He served as the primary academic coordinator overseeing the academic and degree progress of Western Illinois University football, volleyball, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s track and field teams, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.
