THIS WEEK: The Bowling Green State University cross country teams, after posting wins to open the season, return home for the Mel Brodt Invitational Saturday (Sept. 18). The Mel Brodt race marks the Falcons' only home action of the season. The women's race will begin at 2:00 p.m., with the men's race starting at 2:45 p.m. and an open race commencing at 3:30 p.m.
Following the Mel Brodt Invite, the Falcons will be idle for a weekend before resuming competition on Oct. 1. That day, the men will head to Auburn Ala., for the Pre-South Regional Meet, while the women will head to the Notre Dame Invitational.
LAST WEEKEND: Both BGSU teams opened the season at Ohio University, and both the Falcon men and women finished first in the three-team races. BG bested Ohio and Marshall in each case.
The Falcon men posted a team score of 34 points to top the MU Thundering Herd (42) and the OU Bobcats (56). Senior Dan Flaute was the Falcons' top finisher, placing third overall. BG had seven runners among the first 12 finishers.
On the women's side, BGSU's 30 points topped both Ohio (36) and Marshall (94). Junior Lisa Mariea led the Falcons by placing third overall. Like the BG men, the Falcons placed seven runners among the top-12. BGSU's complete list of finishers can be found under the "results" sites.
