BG Hockey Teams Blanks Visiting Ohio State

BOWLING GREEN, OH - The Bowling Green State University hockey team shutout visiting Ohio State, 3-0, at the BGSU Ice Arena Friday night giving head coach Buddy Powers his 100th win as the Falcon mentor.
After a scoreless first two periods, Bowling Green scored two power-play goals early in the third period and added an empty-net goal late to complete the scoring.
Falcon sophomore Austin de Luis scored at the 3:50 mark on a rebound of an Adam Edinger shot for his fifth of the campaign. Freshman Tyler Knight garnered the second assist on the game's first goal.
BG increased its lead to 2-0 at the 9:26 mark when Knight tallied his fourth of the year off assists from sophomore blueliners Grady Moore and Marc Barlow. Junior Curtis Valentine scored into an empty-net with 1:21 remaining in the contest.
BG goalie Tyler Masters turned aside 25 Buckeye shots for his second career shutout, while Ohio State netminder Ray Aho was also credited with 25 stops.
BG is now 7-12 overall, and 6-9 in the CCHA, while OSU falls to 7-14-2 overall and 3-11-1 in the CCHA.
The Falcons and the Buckeyes will meet again on Saturday night in Columbus with face-off slated for 7:05 p.m. at OSU's Value City Arena.
