The Chippewas, who entered the match tied for first place in the MAC, stayed there with a one-goal win at BG. After CMU's Emilie VilleMonte opened the scoring at the 10:44 mark, Michelle Lisy tied the contest for BG with her team-leading eighth goal of the year at 21:39. Annmarie Aparo assisted on the play.
The match remained deadlocked until six minutes into the second half. Central's Leah McGrath one-timed a ball past BG goalie Erika Flanders. The Falcons, who were outshot by a 16-8 count, could not get the tying goal past CMU 'keeper Aryn McCumber.
McCumber, who played the second half in relief of Beth Quiney, earned the win with three saves in a scoreless 45 minutes. Quiney made one save. For the Falcons, Flanders made six stops on the day.
The Chippewas held an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal.
