BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -
Bowling Green State University freshman Jill Conover (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) has been named the Mid-American Conference "Player of the Week" for women's soccer. The award is the first of Conover's career, and only the third MAC "P-O-W" honor in BGSU women's soccer history.
Conover, a forward, scored three goals and added an assist as the Falcons won a pair of MAC matches to move to 2-0-0 in conference play for the first time in school history. On the season, Conover has had a hand in 11 of BGSU's 17 goals, including four of the five in MAC play.
Conover assisted on the match-winning goal and scored the clinching tally in Wednesday's (Sept. 15) 2-0 victory over Kent. KSU, like BGSU, advanced to the MAC Tournament semifinals last season. On Saturday (Sept. 18), Conover scored a pair of goals in BG's 3-2 road win over two-time defending MAC Tournament champion Northern Illinois.
On the season, Conover has five goals and six assists for 16 points, leading the team in all three categories.
The Falcons (5-2-0 overall, 2-0-0 MAC) have just one match on tap this week, a Sunday (Sept. 26) home contest vs. Buffalo (6-0-1, 0-0-0). Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at BGSU's Cochrane Field.
