Despite a solid effort from Lori Kemerer, the Falcons fell to the red-hot Cardinals (7-15, 7-15, 15-12, 11-15). Bowling Green lost for just the second time in the last 13 matches, while BSU captured its 12th consecutive win.
Kemerer hit a team-best .389 and recorded her 500th career block, but it wasn't enough. Kemerer also had 17 kills to tie for team honors with Melissa Lewis.
BGSU got off to a slow start, dropping the first two games. The Brown and Orange captured game three, and BG hung tough in the fourth game, but lost a close decision.
Kate Yeo led the Brown and Orange with 13 digs, while Lewis and Amber Vorst also hit double digits with 12 and 11, respectively. Kemerer, Kris Pesorda and JoAnna Papageorgiou each had three block assists on the night.
Kemerer's final rejection, midway through the fourth game, was the 500th total block of her career. She becomes just the second BG player to reach that milestone, joining Lisa Mika (1988-91).
Susie Meshberger had 19 kills and hit .515, both match highs, for the Cardinals. Megan Hammons had 18 kills, while Jenna Foster had 14 kills and a match-high 15 digs for the hosts.
The loss, coupled with Akron's win over Ohio, knocked the Falcons out of first place in the MAC's East Division. UA, now 10-4 in MAC play, moved a half-game ahead of the 10-5 Falcons.
