FALCONS BEGIN 4TH SEASON UNDER DAKICH
The Falcons begin their fourth season under head coach Dan Dakich.
They have won two straight season opening games having defeated Northern Iowa at home, 70-68, in 1998, and Jackson State, 60-43, in the Pepsi One/Nextell Challenge in Hawaii last year.
Since 1986, the Falcons are 13-1 in home openers.
While most of those wins have come against non-Division I opponents, this game against Evansville will mark the first time in school history that BG has opened its home campaign against a DI opponent for three straight years (Northern Iowa, Arkansas-Little Rock, and Evansville).
PRESEASON PREDICTIONS
Both teams are picked to finish third in their respective leagues.
BGSU, the defending MAC Champions, is slated to finish third in the East Division after finishing 22-8 and 14-4 in 1999-2000.
The Purple Aces were 18-12 and 9-9 in the Missouri Valley Conference finishing sixth last season. They are picked to finish behind Creighton and Indiana State.
