Hamilton Named to Assistant AD Position

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Dr. Darren Hamilton has been promoted to an assistant athletic director position at Bowling Green State University, athletic director Paul Krebs and associate AD Janna Blais have announced. Hamilton has been named Assistant AD for Academic Affairs, and will begin his new duties on Jan. 2, 2001.
Hamilton, a native of Wilkes Barre, Pa., came to BGSU this past July as Athletics Academic Coordinator. He joined the Falcons after a stint as Director of Student-Athlete Services for Classroom Link, Inc. In that role, Hamilton assisted prospective Division I student-athletes, high school guidance counselors, coaches and parents in understanding the college recruitment process, and prepared and distributed information materials that illuminated initial and continuing eligibility requirements.
Prior to Classroom Link, Inc., Hamilton spent two years as Assistant AD for Academics at Cheyney University in Cheyney, Pa. He came to Cheyney from Penn State University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts (1985), Master of Science (1988) and Doctor of Philosophy (1991) degrees. As an undergraduate, Hamilton was a member of the Nittany Lion football team. While earning his graduate degrees, he served as an academic advisor for student-athletes at PSU.
A national search to fill the position of Athletics Academic Coordinator will begin after the New Year.
