Women's Swimming Team Prepares For MAC Championship

The Bowling Green State University women's swimming and diving team is preparing for the 2000 Mid-American Conference championship, which will be hosted by Ohio University on Feb. 24-26 in Athens, Ohio.
The Falcons finished the regular season with a 2-6 MAC record and an overall record of 5-7.
BG's 200 medley relay team of Sarah Abell, Bethany Budde, Nancy Simpson and Kim Moden posted the second-best time in the MAC this year at 1:48.27. The 400 medley relay team of Sarah Abell, Bethany Budde, Nancy Simpson and Kelley O'Hara has the fourth best time at 3:56.66. BG's 200 free relay team of Kim Moden, Amanda Messmer, Simpson and Julia Soya also has the fourth best time at 1:38.62. The 400 free relay quartet of Kelley O'Hara, Amanda Messmer, Jen Jarjosa and Kim Moden has the sixth best time at 3:34.94. The Falcons 800 free relay team comprised of Katie Heaton, Ashley Atkinson, Jen Jarjosa and Kelley O'Hara also has the sixth best time at 7:55.86.
Kim Moden had the third best time in the 50 freestyle (:24.21), while Amanda Messmer's time of :24.85 was 16th best in the MAC. In the 100 freestyle, Kelley O'Hara was 10th at :53.18, while Moden was 17th at :53.82 and Messmer was 20th at :54.14.
Kelley O'Hara was seventh in the 200 freestyle (1:54.33), while Jen Jarjosa was 19th (1:56.54). Kelley O'Hara had the 11th best time in the 500 freestyle at 5:08.85, with Ashley Atkinson 20th at 5:13.20.
BG's has two competitors listed in the 1,000 freestyle - Ashley Atkinson at 19th (10:53.61) and Julia Soya at 20th (10:59.06). In the 1,650 freestyle, Ashley Atkinson was 17th at 18:08.11.
BG had two swimmers listed in the top three of the 100 backstroke - Nancy Simpson had the top time at :57.42, while Sarah Abell had the third best time at :58.49. Amanda Messmer was listed 13th at 1:00.20. In the 200 backstroke, Nancy Simpson was second at 2:05.14, with Sarah Abell being ranked fourth at 2:07.99.
Nancy Simpson was fourth in the 100 butterfly at :57.69. Bethany Budde was seventh in the 100 breaststroke at 1:06.35, while Katy Monnette was 15th at 1:08.63. Bethany Budde's time of 2:22.85 placed sixth in the 200 breaststroke during the regular-season.
In the 200 individual medley, Nancy Simpson was listed 13th with a time of 2:11.66, with Bethany Budde listed 14th in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:39.97.
Bowling Green has three divers listed among the top 13 in the one-meter competition. Laura Segerlin had the 10th best score during the regular-season at 246.95, Ellyn Vreeland was 12th at 234.65 and Patti Wilson was 13th at 226.88.
In the three-meter diving listings, Laura Segerlin was 10th at 269.70, Patti Wilson was 11th at 260.63 and Ellyn Vreeland was 12th at 234.65.
