Athens, OH -
Bowling Green's baseball team suffered a 5-4 setback at Ohio University in Saturday's first game of a doubleheader.
The Falcons led 4-1 heading into the seventh inning, but Jeff Rook's one-out home run cut BG's lead to two at 4-2. Tony Fontana, BG's starting pitcher, then walked Jeremy Johnson. Following a fielder's choice, pinch-hitter Scott Brownlee walked. Andrew See singled to center making it a 4-3 contest. Cory Keylor's drive to left field was dropped by Len Elias as he backed into the wall allowing pinch-runner Kevin Sullivan and See to score with the game-winning run.
BG went ahead 2-1 in the fourth inning when Aric Christman singled, Len Elias walked and Alan Gilhousen flied out moving Christman to third. Lee Morrison's infield single scored Christman with Elias scoring on Kenny Burdine's infield single.
The Falcons increased their lead to 4-1 with two runs in the sixth. Lee Morrison and Sean Ryan each doubled to start the inning. After a popout and a single by Matt Best, Ryan came around to score on Brad Simon's groundout.
Fontana went the distance on the mound for the Falcons. He allowed five runs (three earned) on four hits, while striking out four. Tony Schiml tossed a complete game for the Bobcats striking out seven.
Ohio University moved into second place in the Mid-American Conference East Division with a 14-7 conference mark, while BG is now 12-7 in the league.
