LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team fell to the University of Idaho by a 2-0 count Saturday night (Sept. 9). The neutral-site match was held at Peter Johann Memorial Field in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Vandals scored a goal in each half in improving to 2-4 on the season. The best scoring chance for the Falcons, now 2-2 on the year, came roughly 10 minutes into the match, as senior Ashley Enser banged a shot off the crossbar.
Idaho held a 12-6 advantage in shots, and BGSU sophomore goalie Erika Flanders made 10 saves in the contest.
"We did not play very well," said Falcon head coach Andy Richards. "With the exception of Ashley's shot of the bar, we failed to create any significant offense in the game.
"Erika played very well in net. She made a very good save in each half to prevent the score from being any worse than it was. But, unfortunately, we didn't play with the intensity that we need to. We didn't get any kind of rhythm to our game. We are disappointed in our overall performance."
The Falcons will remain in Vegas to take on UNLV in a Monday night (Sept. 11) match. That contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. locally (10:00 p.m. Eastern Time).
"We have an opportunity to put things right against a UNLV team that we know will be very good," said Richards. "But, we would like to try to put things right after a disappointing performance."
Following the UNLV match, the Falcons will open Mid-American Conference play with a Friday (Sept. 15) match at Central Michigan.
