Heldt, Keegan, and McClung Earn Victories for Women's Track and Field

Ann Arbor, Michigan - Three members of the Bowling Green State University women's track and field program earned first place finishes at the Red Simmons Invitational held Saturday at the University of Michigan. It was the first meet of the season for the BGSU women's team. Other teams involved included Michigan, Toledo, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.
Senior Stephanie Heldt (Toledo/Central Catholic) captured the high jump with an effort of 5-6. Freshman Kerri McClung (Portland, Indiana) took home top honors in the shot put with a toss of 47-5 1/4 and senior Lisa Keegan (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) was the winner in the weight throw with a heave of 54-1 3/4.
Other Highlights Senior Andrea Cook (Marysville, Ohio) finished second in the pole vault at 10-11 3/4.
Freshman Ellen Alkire (Fort Wayne, Ind.) finished third in the 400 at 1:00.18. Junior Jovone Houpe (Gahanna/Lincoln) was fifth in the same event at 1:01.22.
Senior Christine Thompson (Amherst/Steele) was third in the mile run at 5:10.02.
Senior Lisa Mariea was third in the 3,000 meters at 10:11.13.
