Falcons Defeated in MAC Opener

Bowling Green, Ohio - In the first conference meet of the season, the BG men's swimming and diving team was defeated by Toledo (203-37) and Eastern Michigan (205-34). Eastern Michigan also defeated Toledo in a close 140-103 to sweep this weekend.
The Falcons did see improvement from the first meet of the season. The 200 medley relay, made up of Paul Bizzarro, Ray Bartel, Kevin Anderson and Adam Brown, swam a 1:39.98, good for fifth in the meet and a nearly two second drop from the previous meet.
Junior Lucas Womack swam a BG season best in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.56, good for seventh. Teammates Tom Mohlman and Robert McRae were 8th and 8th, respectively. Dan Reese had a half second improvement in the 50 free, swimming a 22.80 for seventh place.
Freshman Lee Whitson was the Falcons highest finisher in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.99. Ray Bartel and Kyle O'Hara were 8th and 9th, respectively.
The two freshmen divers, Ian Chertieny and Richard Wade, made their conference debut. Chertieny was 5th in the 1 meter (209.65) and 7th in the 3 meter (199.30). Wade was 7th in the 1 meter (171.95) and 8th in the 3 meter (198.10).
Senior and freshman battled it out in the 200 fly, as Kevin Anderson outtouched newcomer Robert McRae. Anderson swam a 2:03.46 and McRae swam a 2:03.65.
The 400 freestyle relay, made up of Robert McRae, Tom Mohlman, Kevin Anderson and Adam Brown, swam a 3:21.43, good for sixth place.
The Falcons are back in action November 10 against Xavier. The meet is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
