Bowling Green, Ohio - The top scoring duo among teammates in Mid-American Conference play, juniors Len Matela (Merrillville, Ind.) and Keith McLeod (Canton) were co-recipients of the Antonio Daniels Most Valuable Player Award at the annual Bowling Green State University men's basketball team banquet. Matela, a two-time honorable mention All-MAC selection, averaged 15.7 points and 8.8 rebounds and ranked among MAC leaders in rebounds and field goal percentage (55.0). McLeod, who finished second in the league in scoring and was a second-team All-MAC pick averaged 18.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals. The duo averaged 34.2 points per game in conference play.
CAPTAIN'S AWARD Trent Jackson (Rochester, N.Y.), the team's lone senior, was honored . He averaged 10.5 points and 3.8 rebounds and led the MAC in steals averaging two thefts per game.
EARL RUPRIGHT TEAM SPIRIT AWARD Junior Brent Klassen (Kimball, Neb.) was selected for his leadership on and off the floor. An emotional and tenacious performer, the re-insertion of "Cowboy" into the starting lineup saw the Falcons win nine of their final 13 games of the season.
MOST IMPROVED AWARD Sophomore Cory Ryan (Fountain City, Ind.) averaged 6.8 points per game and led the team with 43 three-point baskets. He scored just 16 points during his freshman year.
