Joe Statkus Leaves BGSU Hockey Program

Bowling Green, Ohio - Senior defenseman Joe Statkus has left Bowling Green State University and the hockey program due to personal reasons.
Statkus earned his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice last May, 2001, from BGSU with a minor in sociology. He finished his undergraduate career with a 3.51 cumulative GPA and had completed 12 credit hours towards a masters degree this fall semester.
Statkus was a two-time letterwinner for the Falcons and appeared in 17 games this season for coach Buddy Powers. The Oak Lawn, Ill., native missed five games this year due to a back injury and had one assist at Northern Michigan on Oct. 20.
For his career, Statkus had 0-4--4 in 77 games played for the Falcons. He finished with 32 penalties for 64 minutes. His best year in the Brown and Orange was last season when he played in 33 of 40 games and had three assists (0-3--3).
