CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Mid-American Conference has announced the 2001 MAC Football Honor Roll, and five members of the Bowling Green squad were among the list of honorees.
Redshirt junior Chris Haneline (3.34 GPA/criminal justice), redshirt sophomores Craig Jarrett (4.00 GPA/chemistry) and Jason Van Dam (3.83 GPA/business), sophomore Josh Harris (3.12 GPA/interpersonal communications) and redshirt freshman Andy Grubb (3.21 GPA/exercise specialist) all were named to the team.
The MAC Honor Roll is in its third year of existence. Haneline joins a growing list of BG student-athletes who have been named to the Honor Roll all three times. Jarrett and Van Dam earn the honor for the second time as Falcons.
In order to be eligible for the MAC Honor Roll, a student-athlete must obtain a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better and earn a letter for the current season. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended that institution for an entire year to qualify.
After a two-year absence, the Mid-American Conference has also reinstituted the Academic All-MAC Team and three Falcons have earned that honor as well. Haneline, Jarrett and Van Dam all have been named to the 2001 Academic All-MAC Team.
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC team, a student-athlete must earn a 3.25 grade point average or better and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions.
The Falcons finished the 2001 season with an 8-3 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the East Division, good for second place.
