Ben Assenmacher Joins Falcon Hockey Team

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University hockey coach Buddy Powers announced this week that Ben Assenmacher has joined the Falcon hockey team, effective immediately. He is a native of Sylvania, Ohio, and is a graduate of Toledo St. John's High School.
Assenmacher comes to BGSU from the Lincoln Stars of the United State Hockey League (USHL) in Lincoln, Neb. The 6-foot, 190-pounder was a forward for the Stars and had one goal and six assists this year in 19 games played.
Last season he played with the Springfield (Ill.) Blues of the North American Hockey League and had 11-39--50 in 47 games played with 85 penalty minutes. Two years ago, Assenmacher was with the Texas Tornadoes (Dallas, Texas) of the NAHL and had 4-13--17 in 40 games played with 57 penalty minutes. He was named to the NAHL All-Star Team in 2001.
Assenmacher graduated from St. John's High School in 1999. He helped the Titans reach the 1999 Ohio High School State Championship game and was named the Northwest Ohio Hockey Conference Player of the Year in 1998. He lettered all four years at St. John's under coach Mike Mankowski.
He plans to major in pre-medicine at BGSU and is the son of Dennis and Mary Assenmacher.
Bowling Green (6-14-4 overall) plays its final non-conference series of the season this weekend at Rensselaer (RPI) in Troy, N.Y. (Jan. 18-19). Both faceoffs are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
