Bowling Green, Ohio -
BGSU Coach Urban Meyer
I have been coaching for 18 years and I have been lucky to be on two teams that have gone 7-0. You always enjoy winning because you know how difficult it is. That's 10 in a row, and 7-0 in 2002 but we still need to improve.
When all three phases of the game are working (offense, defense, and kicking), then you can be one of the best seven or eight teams in the nation. It was a tight ball game and then Keon Newson caused a turnover on special teams. I feel as though that changed the game. Defense made a great interception when they were driving, and that changed the game. Our offense was then able to put them away.
I can't wait for that one game where everything is clicking. If you get the offense, defense, and special teams really going then we can be a really good team.
BGSU Running Back Joe Alls
Ed (Orr) did a good job rehabilitating my shoulder. He gave me a cortisone shot before the game. I felt really good out there, so I really couldn't feel my shoulder. I was just trying to get back into my rhythm of my game. I felt alright, but there were sometimes that I felt a little timid over. I think I did alright.
On BGSU offensive line... The offensive line did a good job, because they were beating the guys up front and I didn't have to move. That helped me out a lot, so I was getting positive yards. It is not tough at all, if you do just like I do, the holes are there. I give a lot of credit to Coach Stud and the whole front.
On upcoming BGSU opponents... We have a lot of away games coming up, Northern Illinois after Kent on the road. They had their bye-week before we play them, so they will be prepared, but I have a lot of confidence in our coaches and I think that they will do a good job getting us prepared.
BGSU Linebacker Marcus Allen
We play this game as a team game. When our defense is doing bad, like last week, our offense came through and scored touchdowns for us. This week, with the turnovers, we had to go out and get the ball back.
On BGSU defensive line... We needed to turn it around and get some turnovers. They had some great pressures today and they had some hurries on their quarterback.
Bill Lynch (BSU Head Coach)
They're a great football team. They've got so many weapons, they can hit you so many ways. As much as anything, they get you spread out that you got to be perfect in tackling. If a guy misses a tackle then all of a sudden its 10 more yards. We did a good job of not giving up the real big play. They're pretty good. I've got to admit, they're the real deal.
On BGSU rushing... If we would have totally sold out to stop the run, I'm not sure the numbers couldn't have gotten big in the passing game. We knew we were going to have to play without making mistakes and we were going to have to definitely win the turnover margin, and we didn't.
On Turnovers.... To upset somebody like that you've got to make them turn it over, and you've got to capitalize on them and you can't turn it over yourself. And the exact opposite happened. When we did get the breaks the field position was awful.
Mike Brizendine (BSU Linebacker)
I give them the best respect in the world. They're a tough team, that's the reason they're undefeated right now and playing for the MAC Championship. They've got a tough offensive line. They came out at you. They're quick and athletes, too. They're not just some big old men that can't move.
Andy Roesch (BSU Quarterback)
On BGSU Defense...
They came out with a defense we weren't expecting. We practiced for a certain defense all week and they came out and played soft (on receivers). I thought they covered everybody well. They had a good scheme against us. We had a chance to make some big plays, we just didn't make them. They had a good defensive plan.
On Turnovers... We moved the ball but made a couple of mistakes. I thought we played hard. You knew they were going to score some points so we needed to score some points to combat that, and we almost did. They turned the ball over and we made them pay for it two or three times, but we've got to capitalize on that.
