Falcon Hockey Team Signs Two Players

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University hockey coach Scott Paluch announced today the signing of Mark Voakes (St. Thomas, Ontario) and Rich Meloche (Oakville, Ontario) for the 2003-04 season.
"We're very excited to have them join our Falcon Hockey program," said Paluch. "They both bring a tremendous amount of offensive skill to the game, and, on top of that, they are both very solid young men.
"We feel they both are going to have tremendous careers here at Bowling Green."
Mark Voakes (6-0, 165, center, shoots left) St. Thomas Stars of Western "B" League
Voakes is currently second on the St. Thomas Stars in scoring with 8-9--17 in 15 games. The St. Thomas, Ontario native is fourth on the team in penalty minutes (40) and second in assists. The Stars have a record of 10-5-1 and are fifth in the Western "B" Junior League standings.
Voakes played part of last season with St. Thomas, as well. He is the son of Ron and Joanne Voakes.
Rich Meloche (5-11, 183, forward, shoots right) Milton Merchants of Ontario Junior "A"
Meloche is the top scorer for the Merchants with 38 points (21-17) in 20 games so far this season. His 21 goals are tops on the team, as well. Meloche is fifth overall in scoring in the OJPAHL. He has 24 PIM for the Merchants, who are currently 17-5-1 overall and lead the West Conference of the OJPAHL.
He played the 2001-02 season for the Merchants, finishing with 33-36--69 in 48 games, including 41 PIM.
Meloche is the son of Mike and Brenda Meloche.
