Falcons Tabbed For Ninth In MAC's Preseason Coaches Poll

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference women's track coaches have made their preseason picks for the indoor season, and the Bowling Green State University squad has been selected to finish ninth. The Falcons of head coach Scott Sehmann, after opening the indoor season on Dec. 12, are idle until a home meet on Saturday, Jan. 18.
In a close vote, the Ball State women were the preseason favorite to win the MAC Indoor Track and Field title. The Cardinals received 119 points, including three first-place votes. Three MAC coaches abstained from voting.
Eastern Michigan comes in a close second with 117 points, just two behind BSU. Central Michigan, the 2002 champions, earned the third-place pick with 109 points.
Kent State received 104 points for fourth place, followed by Western Michigan (89), Akron (80), Toledo (70), Miami (65), BGSU (46), Buffalo (45), Ohio (32), Northern Illinois (18), and Marshall (16).
In addition to the home meet on Jan. 18, the Falcons will host another indoor meet, on Feb. 8 at the Perry Field House. The indoor season culminates with the MAC Championships, hosted by Kent State on Feb. 28-March 1.
