SENIOR NIGHT
Since coming to BGSU five seasons ago, Coach Dan Dakich has molded this group of Falcons, led by seniors Brent Klassen, Keith McLeod, Brandon Pardon and Len Matela, to become one of the best ever in BGSU history. The four will be playing their final regular season home game at Anderson Arena. With their win over Miami, the 2001-2002 squad became the 12th team in school history to win 20 games in a season, and just the fourth since 1962. It also marked the first time since 1943-49 when BGSU had six straight 20-win seasons, that BGSU has won 20 games or more twice in three seasons. The Falcons were 22-8 in 1999-2000. In addition, with 11 conference wins, the Falcons have posted their fourth straight winning season in MAC play for the first time since BGSU had five winning conference records from 1980-84. The Falcons 76 wins over the last four seasons is the most in school history during a similar period since BGSU won 98 games from 1946-50.
DOING IT WITH DEFENSE
The Falcons have won seven of its last nine games as MAC Player of the Year candidate and Defensive Player of the Year candidate Keith McLeod setting the tone with his defensive effort, the rest of the Falcons have followed suit. BGSU is allowing 61.1 points on 37.4 percent shooting (189/505) from the field and 32.4 percent shooting (38/117) from three-point range in that span.
The Falcons are one game ahead of Ohio as both teams battle for second place in the MAC's East Division and a bye to advance to next month's MAC Tournament Championship. Since the 1998-99 season, BGSU has the league's second best winning percentage in MAC games (47-23, 67.1%).
AT HOME
Since the 1998-99 season, the Falcons have a 45-7 record in "The House That Roars", Anderson Arena, including a 28-5 ledger against the MAC. In MAC play at home this season, BGSU is outscoring opponents at 76.5 to 60.3. The Falcons (12-1) also have won 10 games or more at home for the fourth straight season.
BGSU and BUFFALO
This will be the eighth meeting between the two schools with BGSU having won the previous seven contests, including an 85-73 victory at UB in January.
