TOLEDO, Ohio -
BGSU HEAD COACH CURT MILLER:
"We're making progress, especially after getting beaten by 31 points (at Toledo) last year. I give our kids a lot of credit; we played with a lot of heart and effort. We battled throughout the 40 minutes, and I thought we outplayed them at times tonight. But, it's not a secret that we don't have a ton of size. We essentially played with four guards on the floor at once, and we have to be one of the worst rebounding teams in the country. That bit us again, as they outscored us on putbacks, 27-3. With a 27-3 margin, and you only lose by eight on the opponent's own floor -- obviously, the big stat is that we got killed on the boards once again."
"I think both teams have been streaky this year offensively. If you ask (Toledo) coach (Mark) Ehlen, I think he's been disappointed with their offensive output, and we've been up and down. One of the keys to our offense is to be able to get to the foul line off the dribble penetration. Seventeen times (FT attempts) in the second half is more what we need to accomplish than the 0-for-4 in the first half."
"We wanted the game to be up-tempo, and I think they did, too. I think we both thrive off making some 'threes' ... but it settled right down into a defensive battle at the end, and they wore us down and got us pretty good on the boards."
"Coming into tonight, no West Division team had lost a home MAC game yet. I think you'll see that the teams that rise to the top of the MAC West Division are the teams that are gonna steal wins on the road. No one has lost serve yet, heading into tonight, and Toledo held serve at home tonight."
"We're making progress. I think this gives us a lot of confidence, and look forward to having them (Toledo) come to Anderson in a few weeks. Hopefully, we can make some adjustments and rebound better, but we're certainly moving in the right direction. Our seniors have played very well for us, and we're very excited about the rest of this year."
"We're very pleased, but the first thing we talked about in the lockerroom is that there are no moral victories. We have to take away the positives, but, when you put yourself in position to win a road game in this conference, you have to try to take advantage of it. We put ourselves in position to win, and (our players) will have some sleepless nights ahead of them thinking about how, maybe, we were one box-out or one big defensive stop that could have made the difference. Again, there are no moral victories, but we'll take a step back and look at this game, and try to take some positives from this loss."
BGSU SENIOR KIM GRIECH:
"When they make a run, we need to make a run right back at them. (In the second half), they made a couple baskets, and we didn't make that run back at them. We had it close, and that's the time we need to put it into a different gear and get them on their heels. But, our shots didn't fall, and we couldn't get that run we wanted."
