BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Alicia Taylor is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Taylor, a junior on the BGSU women's track and field squad, helped the Falcons to a third-place finish at the team's own Bowling Green Five-Way Meet Saturday (Jan. 18) at Perry Field House.
Taylor, a native of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, won one event and was third in another as the Falcons opened the 2002-03 indoor season. She took first place in the 60-meter dash, capturing the title with a time of 7.84 seconds. Taylor posted a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, in a time of 8.83 seconds.
In those two events, Taylor was responsible for 16 of the Falcons' 93 points, as BG finished behind Western Michigan (146) and Miami (131) but ahead of Ohio (84) and Detroit (41).
Taylor, a health science major, has a 3.27 cumulative grade point average through the fall, 2002, semester.
The Falcons of head coach Scott Sehmann continue the season with Saturday's (Jan. 25) Central Collegiate Championships. The 12-team event, hosted by Kent State University, is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
