Track Places Fourth At Central Collegiate Championships

Kent, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track and field team placed fourth in the Central Collegiate Championships held at Kent State University. Bowling Green posted a score of 56 points, which trailed only Penn State, Kent State and Ohio.
Junior Alicia Taylor (Cleveland Heights, OH) posted a season-best 8.82 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to win the event. Taylor also placed fifth in the 60-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash.
Sophomore Amber Walker (Detroit, MI) placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.67 seconds. Walker also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a final time of 25.49 seconds.
Senior Mary Willems (Huntington, IN) placed fourth in the weight toss with a distance of 16.87 meters, and Kerri McClung (Portland, IN) finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 14.03 meters.
Sophomore Melissa Krueger (Versailles, OH) posted a season-best in the one-mile run with a time of 5:08.19, finishing sixth in the event.
Bowling Green also placed third in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:59.15, and placed fifth in the distance medley with a time of 12:43.19.
Penn State captured the Central Collegiate Championship with a score of 151.333.
Up next, the Falcons travel to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Ohio State Invitational on Saturday, February 1.
