Bowling Green Hosts Northern Michigan This Weekend (Jan. 10-11)
The Falcons will try to move its home record back to .500 when Northern Michigan comes to the BGSU Ice Arena this weekend for two Central Collegiate Hockey Association games (January 10-11). BGSU is 2-3-2 this season at home, including a 1-1 tie vs. #6 Michigan, a 3-2 overtime win over Michigan State, and a 3-3 tie last weekend vs. Alaska Fairbanks.
BGSU vs. Northern Michigan (10-7-1 overall, 8-4-0 CCHA)
BGSU faces Northern Michigan for the first and only times this season on Friday and Saturday. The last visit by NMU to the BGSU Ice Arena resulted in a series split last February when the Wildcats won the first game (4-1) and BGSU turned the tables the next night with a 6-0 win on Senior Night. NMU was 2-1-1 in four games last year vs. the Falcons. BGSU leads the all-time series, though, 27-20-5. The Falcons hold a 14-8-1 record vs. the Wildcats at home. The series is tied in the last 10 matchups between the two schools (4-4-2) with six of those games being decided by one goal or less.
Career Numbers vs. Northern Michigan...
SR Tyler Knight has 1-4--5 in nine career games vs. NMU.
JR D'Arcy McConvey has 0-3--3 in seven career games vs. NMU.
JR Roger Leonard scored two goals in last year's 6-0 win over NMU.
JR Kevin Bieksa has 1-1--2 in seven career games vs. NMU.
SO Ryan Minnabarriet has 1-1--2 in four career games vs. NMU.
SR Tyler Masters is 3-4-2 in nine career games vs. NMU (555:29 minutes), with a .936 save pct., 2.16 gaa., and one shutout.
"Brew" Nets Two Again
SO Steve Brudzewski netted two goals in a game for the second time this season on Saturday vs. UAF. The Dearborn, Mich. native had two goals earlier this year vs. WMU (Oct. 11, 2002). Brudzewski is just one of two Falcons this year to have two goals in a game. He currently leads BGSU with eight goals scored and is tied for the team lead with 13 points. He has four goals in his last four games.
Two Falcons Record First Goals
Two players scored their first goals at BGSU in Friday's 3-3 tie vs. Alaska Fairbanks. Sophomores Alex Rogosheske and Ben Assenmacher (Sylvania, Ohio) netted their first career goals in the Brown and Orange. Rogosheske had three assists entering the game while Assenmacher added an assist earlier in the game for his first two points at BGSU. Rogosheske had three goals at the U.S. Military Academy in the 2000-01 season before transferring to BGSU this year.
