BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Jenny Schnipke is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Schnipke, a senior on the BGSU women's golf team, helped the Falcons to a team title last week.
Schnipke, a native of Kalida, Ohio (Kalida HS), finished second among individuals as the Falcons won the 11-team Butler Fall Invitational at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis, Ind.. She shot a 156 (79-77), which actually tied her with Amanda Minchin of Eastern Illinois for first place, but Minchin was declared the medalist.
BGSU carded a two-round team score of 643, a total of 13 strokes better than second-place Western Kentucky. The win came almost a year to the day after BGSU's last tourney title. The individual finish was Schnipke's highest since she won the Eastern Kentucky Invitational last fall.
Schnipke, an exercise specialist, maintains a 3.45 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons return to action this weekend, heading to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Wolverine Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 4-5).
