Falcons Win Home Opener
The Falcons captured their season opener against Urbana with a 103-78 victory. It was the Falcons' 19th consecutive win at home against a non-conference opponent since November of 1998.
Picking Up Where he Left Off
Sophomore guard Ron Lewis scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Falcons. He finished off last season by averaging 23.5 points in the final four games of the year. Lewis also hit 14 of 15 attempts from the free throw line.
Against Findlay
These two teams will hook up for the first time since the 1993-94 season. BGSU holds a 54-16 lead in a series which began during the 1915-16 campaign. The Oilers are ranked ninth among NCAA Division II schools.
More Urbana Postgame Notes
BGSU shot 57.4 percent from the floor and were also paced by junior John Reimold who had 22 points and nine rebounds. He also added six assists and tied his career-best with eight field goals. Junior Josh Almanson made all seven field goal attempts and finished with 18 points. Senior Jabari Mattox tied his career-best with 10 assists.
As a team, the Falcons had 29 assists to just 11 turnovers.
Freshman Matt Lefeld had eight points off the bench (making all four field goal attempts) as he and fellow frosh Chris Hobson (7 points) and Austin Montgomery (6 points) combined to give the Falcons 21 points in their first collegiate action.
