BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Lindsay Austin is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Austin, a senior on the BGSU women's basketball team, is a co-captain on the 2003-04 squad.
Austin, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio (Sycamore HS), had 11 points and seven assists as the Falcons opened the season with a 79-67 loss at Youngstown State Saturday evening (Nov. 22).
In that game, Austin had six rebounds to tie for team honors, and the point guard had only one turnover in 38 minutes of action.
Austin, a visual communication technology (VCT) major, maintains a 3.57 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons are now 1-1 after Tuesday's (Nov. 25) convincing 77-53 win over Detroit in the home opener. Austin had a double-double in that game, with 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. She also posted game-high totals of six assists and three steals.
For her career, Austin now has moved into fifth place in school history in career assists, and currently has 350.
The Falcons head to Texas for this weekend's Flint Hills Resources Islander Classic, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 28-29). BGSU will play Southeast Missouri State in the first round, and the Falcons of head coach Curt Miller will face either Prairie View A&M or the host school in second-day action.
