CLEVELAND,Ohio - Members of the Bowling Green State University football team have swept the Mid-American Conference Player-of-the-Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon (Dec. 1). Senior Josh Harris earned MAC West Division Offensive P-O-W honors, while junior Keon Newson was named the West Division Defensive Player of the Week. Junior Shaun Suisham was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Harris earns Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors for the third time this season and the seventh time in his career. He was honored after the Falcons' win at Purdue earlier this year, as well as his dominating performance in the win over Northern Illinois back on October 25.
Newson and Suisham each earned their first MAC weekly award.
Harris, a native of Westerville, Ohio, posted 256 yards on 21-26 passing, and also had a team-high 75 yards rushing. The senior quarterback also caught a 48-yard touchdown pass from Cole Magner, early in the second quarter.
Newson, a Decatur, Ga., native earned his first P-O-W award of the season with his 10 tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass break up in the 31-23 win over Toledo. It was his fifth double-figure game of 10 or more tackles this season.
Suisham, a native Wallaceburg, Ontario, native earned his award by connecting on all four of his PAT's, as well as booting a 41-yard field goal in a swirling wind, his second longest of the season, to tie the game at 17-17.
BGSU will host Miami on Thursday night, December 4, at 7:00 p.m. for the MAC Championship.
