Falcons End Indoor Season With Tenth Place Finish At MAC Championships

Kent, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track squad posted a team total 34 points in the 2003 MAC Indoor Championships, placing tenth overall. Kent State University captured the indoor title with 88 points, edging out Ball State University with 84.33 points.
The Falcons were led by senior, Mary Willems who established a new school record in the weight throw with a mark of 62' 1.25". The previous best mark for any Falcon was by Lori Williams who posted a mark of 60' 3" in 2002. Willems also placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 45' 7.25".
Junior Kerri McClung captured first place in the shot put, setting a new season-high with a mark of 49' 3".
In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Alicia Taylor placed third with a time of 8.62 seconds, establishing a new season-best. Taylor also placed eighth in the 60-meter dash.
The BGSU relay teams set season-best times in both the 4 x 400 relay and distance medley. The team of Alicia Taylor, Erin Leeper, Ellen Alkire and Amber Walker posted a time of 3:50.27 in the 4 x 400, crushing their previous best set back on February 8, when they established a time of 3:56.67 at the BGSU Women's Open.
In the distance medley, the team of Melissa Kreuger, Amber Walker, Ellen Alkire and Amber Culp establish a season-best time of 12:13.62. Their previous best was a time of 12:25.64 at the All-Ohio Championships back in January.
The Falcons begin outdoor season on March 22, when they travel to Clemson, South Carolina to compete in the Clemson Relays.
