BGSU Hockey Adds Four Student-Athletes to 2003-04 Recruiting Class

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University hockey coach Scott Paluch announced today the addition of four student-athletes to his 2003-04 recruiting class. These players will join Rich Meloche (forward) and Mark Voakes (forward) who committed to BGSU in the fall.
Joining Meloche and Voakes will be Jeremy Bronson (Defenseman, Compuware, NAHL), Dana Hanson (Forward, Calgary, AJHL), Jonathan Sigalet (Defenseman, Salmon Arm, BCHL), and James Unger (Forward, Topeka, USHL).
"We're very excited about adding these four players to our recruiting class," said Paluch. "We feel that these four players, combined with Rich Meloche and Mark Voakes, form a class that will bring a great combination of speed, skill and hard work to our program. We are confident they will bring a lot of energy to Falcon hockey."
Jeremy Bronson (Defenseman, shoots left, 5-11, 184, Bowling Green, Ohio)
Bronson played the last two years with Detroit Compuware, helping lead the team to the USA Hockey Junior 'A' National Championship during the 2001-02 season. Bronson finished the 2002-03 season with six goals and 11 assists for 17 points, while racking up 167 penalty minutes in 53 contests. Four of his six goals were power-play tallies. Bronson and current Falcon Mike Falk were teammates during the 2001-02 Compuware championship season. He is the son of Robert and Sheila Bronson.

Dana Hanson (Forward, shoots left, 5-9, 182, Medicine Hat, Alberta)
Hanson spent the 2002-03 season with the Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In 51 games, Hanson netted 13 goals and added 13 assists for 26 points. Five of his goals were on the power play, while two were game-winners and one was shorthanded. In four playoff contests, Hanson garnered an assist. He is the son of Rick and Bonnie Hanson.

Jonathan Sigalet (Defenseman, shoots left, 6-1, 170, Surrey, British Columbia)
Jonathan, the younger brother of Falcon netminder Jordan, spent the 2002-03 season with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Hockey League. Sigalet led the Silverbacks blueliners in scoring with 13 goals and 39 assists for 52 points in 52 contests. He was named the Tim Horton Donuts Defenseman of the Year in the BCHL, First-Team All-Star in the BCHL, and All-Rookie Team in the BCHL. Sigalet also represented British Columbia in the 2003 Canada Games in February as one of the top 86 Canadian-born players. He averaged a point per game in the BCHL playoffs as well, scoring eight points (8a) in eight games. He is the son of Marvin and Genevieve Sigalet.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks
James Unger (Forward, shoots right, 6-2, 187, Garfield Heights, Ohio)
Unger has spent the past two seasons with the Topeka Scarecrows of the United States Hockey League. Unger finished the 2002-03 season with 19 goals and 26 assists for 45 points, good for second on the Topeka squad. In four playoff games, Unger tallied three points on one goal and two assists. During the 2001-02 season, Unger scored four goals and three assists for seven points in 43 games. Unger joins former Scarecrow teammate Alex Rogosheske on the Falcons. He is the son of Paul and Marcia Unger.

Falcon Hockey Early Signees...
Mark Voakes (Forward, shoots left, 6-0, 165, St. Thomas, Ontario)
Voakes led the St. Thomas Stars in points (30) and goals (17) in just 29 games played. He had 13 assists and 52 PIM for the Stars, who finished seventh in the Western "B" Junior League. Voakes was named a East Team All-Star this past season. He played part of last season with St. Thomas, as well. He is the son of Ron and Joanne Voakes.

Rich Meloche (Forward, shoots right, 5-11, 183, Oakville, Ontario)
Meloche finished third in the Ontario Provincial Junior "A" League in scoring with 105 points (49 goals, 56 assists) in 49 games played. He also had 66 PIM. His team, the Milton Merchants, won the West Division title and finished with a record of 41-6-1-1 and third overall in the OPJAHL. He finished second in the league in playoff scoring, finishing with 17 goals and 19 assists in 15 games played. He was named to the league's All-Star team. Meloche played the 2001-02 season for the Merchants also, finishing with 33-36--69 in 48 games, including 41 PIM. Meloche is the son of Mike and Brenda Meloche.
