BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Ellen Alkire is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Alkire, a junior on the BGSU women's track and field team, helped a Falcon relay team to a season-best time.
Alkire, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., was a part of the 1,600-meter relay team that finished first at the Len Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., Saturday (May 10). That quartet, consisting of Alicia Taylor, Alkire, Marquita McGowan and Amber Walker, took home top honors with a season-best time of 3:38.73.
Alkire, a nursing major, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.04 through the fall, 2002, semester.
The Falcons now compete in the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday through Saturday (May 15-17) at Central Michigan University.
