CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has authorized the release of the MAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2002-03 academic year, and 11 members of the Bowling Green State University women's swimming team were among those honored. The BGSU athletic department had a total of 122 student-athletes selected.
To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. True freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended the institution for an entire year to qualify for the award.
For the women's swimming Falcons, the 11 honorees include senior Alissa Davies, juniors Sarah Agnew, Lindsay Hines, Emily Hois and Molly Peterson, sophomores Carlyn Cusack, Erin Dilkes, Molly O'Donnell, Janice Rice and Amy Smith and redshirt freshman Kristin Altherr. (Note: each player's year of eligibility reflects the 2002-03 academic year).
The 2002-03 Falcons of first-year head coach Keri Buff finished sixth at the MAC Championships, the team's highest finish since 1999. Buff was named the MAC Coach of the Year.
BGSU's list of honorees follows. The cumulative GPA figures for each student-athlete are through the fall, 2002, semester, as the nominations were made before the conclusion of the spring, 2003, semester.
