BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Carrie Richards is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Richards, a senior on the BGSU women's soccer team, helped a Falcons to a win and a tie over the weekend.
Richards, a native of Bremerton, Wash., had her first career three-point match as the Falcons battled Central Michigan to a 2-2 tie at Cochrane Field Friday afternoon (Sept. 12). Richards scored the first goal of the match, then drew an assist on the Falcons' second goal.
Richards had entered the Sept. 5 Eastern Illinois match with career totals of one goal and six points in her first 26 matches as a Falcon. Over the next three contests, the team co-captain had five points on a pair of goals and an assist. Richards also helped the Falcons to a 1-0 win over Cincinnati Sunday (Sept. 14).
Richards who has a double major of international business and finance, maintains a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons, 1-4-1 on the young season, will play a Wednesday match (Sept. 17) at Detroit, before returning home for Friday's (Sept. 19) Mid-American Conference contest vs. Akron, beginning at 4:00 p.m. BGSU will remain at home for a Sunday (Sept. 21) match against Wright State.
