BGSU to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of 1984 National Champions

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University's 1984 NCAA National Championship hockey team will be honored as part of a 20th anniversary celebration weekend, Feb. 12-14, 2004. The weekend will kickoff with a banquet on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, followed by a two-game home series with Lake Superior State on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14, at the BGSU Ice Arena.
Among those in attendance for the weekend will be the members of the 1984 Championship squad, along with coaches and staff from the school's only NCAA championship team. There will be an autograph session prior to the Feb. 13 game for fans.
The Falcons defeated Minn.-Duluth in what still stands as the longest NCAA hockey championship game (97:11 minutes), 5-4, on Gino Cavallini's goal at 7:11 of the fourth overtime. Members of that team that went on to NHL success were Cavallini (Calgary, St. Louis, Quebec), Dave Ellett (Winnipeg, Toronto, New Jersey, Boston, St. Louis), Garry Galley (Los Angeles, Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, Buffalo, N.Y. Islanders), and Mike Natyshak (Quebec).
Individual tickets for the banquet are $75 per person. A table is available for $1,000 and includes the following (eight tickets, framed replica BGSU jersey, entrance to VIP reception before the banquet, past and current player at your table, copy of 1984 championship game).
