Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University goalie Jordan Sigalet has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week for Jan. 19. Sigalet stopped 79 of 82 shots faced (.963 pct.) in two games vs. Michigan State to help the Falcons to a weekend split at the BGSU Ice Arena. BGSU dropped Friday's game 1-0 while bouncing back with a 3-2 win on Saturday.
In 118:46 minutes of action, the junior held the third-best power-play unit in the CCHA to 1-for-11 with the extra man. In Saturday's 3-2 win, Sigalet stopped a game-high 40 shots, including 21 in the critical third period. The 40 saves marked the 12th time in his career and fourth time this season he has stopped 40 or more shots.
It is the second time Sigalet has been named Defensive POW by the league this season.
Sigalet, a native of Surrey, British Columbia, leads the nation with 734 saves and 1469:14 minutes played. He is on pace to break BGSU's single-season record of 1,087 saves set by Tyler Masters in 2000-01.
